Artist statement

Art…. what does it really mean? Art is the process or product of deliberately and creatively arranging elements in a way that appeals to the senses or emotions. Thats the dictionarys definition but does that really make sense? Art should be something that expreses who you are. Art can be photographs, paintings, food??? ANYTHING! The type of art i do expreses me. For example, the purple flower i took a photograph of shows that i like flowers. Someone else might want to make that photo look different, they might use other shutter speed and aperture settings, but the way i took it looks perfect to me. Thats what makes it my art. In my photos you will see the things i see in my everyday life. It might not seem very intresting but something so simple can look so beautiful if you pay attantion to it. that what i like about art and photography, you just make it your own. When i make my art I just go someplace, mostly outside around school or my house. I try to find things that look special and simple and then i just take pictures of that. Then i put my photographes on the computer and sometimes edit them in photoshop. I also draw and thats also a type of art but my favorite type of art is photography!

My name is Marina Storozhuk. I was born on May 29 1994 in Ukraine. My family and I moved to Vancouver, Washington when I was six years old. It was really hard for us to decide to move to America because we had relatives in Ukraine that wanted us to stay and we also had relatives in Washington that wanted us to come here. It was a hard decision, but we decided to come here. For the first month or two we stayed at our cousin’s house, and when my dad got a job so we moved into apartments. In the next six years we moved to three different apartments. Then two years ago we built a house alongside our cousin and my best friend, Natalie. We currently live there. I visited my birthplace in 2005, but other then that; I’ve been in Vancouver all along. Visiting Ukraine was a really good experience for me because I got to see my grandparents. I kind of had to meet them because I didn’t remember them very well. Ukraine has lots of pretty places and nice sunsets. One day i would like to take some photographs of that. One thing I like about photography is that the photo you take makes memories and stops time so you can remember the moment forever. Also, i like photography because you get to travel and see all beautiful places and learn more. I like taking photographs of rivers and sunsets. Also, I like to Photograph food and kids. I especially like a few photographers. One of my favorites is Anne Geddes. She photographs babies and little children. I like the way she makes the kids look so innocent and cute. Photography intrests me alot and i would mabey someday want to be a wedding photographer.
